MOTY2013

South West Coast Path Motographer Of The Year 2013 Competition

Don't know what a Motographer is? Neither did I until I read about the South West Coast Path Motographer Of The Year 2013 competion! The South West Coast Path Cornwall team is encouraging budding mobile phone photographers of all ages to capture a moment in time on the Coast Path as part of its Motographer of the Year 2103 competition.

South West Coast Path Motographer Of The Year 2013 could be a shot of a couple resting a while to admire the view or a child collecting seashells – the only rule is that it is taken on a mobile phone and includes a person out on any stretch of the 630-mile South West Coast Path.

Bluebell Walks

This year the Bluebell woods may not be the magical event of this year's spring walks, as the colder weather has affected their usual growth patterns. The stems will be weaker and so may not grow to the extent where you will see their usual carpet of blue petals and enchanting scent. In fact, you may not even be able to find a really good Bluebell wood walking route until late May in their usual habitat of ancient woodlands.

So, while we can still enjoy the Best Bluebell Woods To Visit In The UK 2013 here is an excellent list of the best Bluebell woods to visit Best Bluebell Woods To Visit In The UK 2013

Five of the best family walks for summer

Why not get out and about this summer and combine a family walking route on the South West Coast Path in Cornwall with a host of other old-fashioned childhood pleasures, from crabbing in rockpools and exploring hidden coves, to following in the footsteps of giants.

Cotswold Walks

Walks In The Cotswolds

Here are two very good walks in the Cotswolds

Deerhurst Walk

This was the first of 2 walks in the Cotswolds. We were staying in Corse Lawn, just outside of Cheltenham, and I mapped out a 13 mile circular walking route from our barn at Slad Farm to the nearby village of Tirley and on to The Haw where I joined the River Severn all the up to Odda's Chapel arching across the Cotswolds countryside to join the disused Coombe Hill Canal back to the River Severn and home.

Cheltenham Walk

This was the second of 2 walks planned during our family holiday in the Cotswolds. I mapped out a 14 mile section of the Cotswolds Way starting at the metal gates of Cleeve Hill following the excellent Cotswolds Way way markers all the way to Dowdeswell Wood Reservoir, the Devil's Chimney and the National Trust Crickley Hill taking me just over 5 hours to complete.
