St Catherines Oratory

St Catherines Oratory Isle of Wight

On a recent trip to the Isle of Wight it is worth popping up to the Pepperpot, more widely known as St Catherines Oratory.

St Catherines Oratory Isle of Wight is a distinctive medieval tower built in 1328. Although octagonal on the outside it only has four inner walls and stands on one of the highest points of the Island.

It forms part of a series of cliff top monuments known as the Tennyson Heritage Coast and is jointly owned by English Heritage and the National Trust.

If you are looking for a longer walk then try the Bembridge Trail, an 11 mile linear walking route across the Isle of Wight from Shide in Newport to Bembridge Point.

For walks like this it is worthwhile buying a good pair of walking boots like the ECCO Biom Terrain Walking Boots

If you are looking for a really lightweight but highly stable pair of walking boots for the summer then the ECCO Biom Terrain Walking Boots are quite a safe bet.

Scilly Walks 2014

The Scilly Guide To A Simple Holiday

The 2014 guide to Scilly has just been published by Wolf Rock, sharing stories of treasured moments on the islands, captured by Booker Prize writers and award winning photographers. A sensory journey through the Isles of Scilly, the guide will lure you in with the timeless words of Michael Morpugo, former Children's Laureate, and keep you hooked with the memories of author and sea writer Sam Llewellyn as well as Booker Prize nominee Jim Crace.

The tale of one family's love of this archipelago is told by Carolyn Mendelsohn, 2013 Professional Photographer of the Year, with a heartfelt picture book story of visits to the islands with her husband and children. Commissioned by the Islands Partnership to bring new life to its marketing, Wolf Rock gathered together thirty groups of locals and friends to the islands to model, shoot, scribble, proof and ferry, making the guide true to the experiences that are enjoyed every day, and holiday. Cornwall based photographer, and frequent visitor, Phil Nichols spent four days on the islands, capturing the unspoilt archipelago. His images very much reflect the feeling of being on the islands, through landscape, laughter and the islands' offer.

More of a book than a holiday guide, small enough to pop in your handbag and large enough to read with tired eyes at bedtime, Scilly's 2014 guide promises to cut through the hard sell of most holiday destinations, offering you a snapshot of what could be a place to you long to visit, again and again. For travel information ios-travel.co.uk and to request a brochure click here: The Scilly Guide To A Simple Holiday.
